Customer Reviews
My hot water cylinder went bang. At first we thought we would either be waiting days and then it being an expensive after hours job. Adam ended up getting it done in business hours really quickly and efficiently and saved us a heap and he was great. We didn't miss a shower and we are in a rural area. Fantastic friendly service.
Check other reviews regarding billing/invoicing. Yes this business will send you a fees and charges confirmation message before hand (below for reference) and I’m always happy to pay well for good, timely, work like I have hundreds of times before on residential and commercial trades projects small and large. What I wasn’t expecting when I got the invoice (despite their message) was to be charged a “service fee” $105+ and THEN one full hour $140+ for a tradesman to look and simply tell me that my gas bottle wasn’t compliant and for me to say “ok I’ll have it removed by the gas company”. He then spent 15mins quoting another job for me - A $2000 job I will not use Howrah Plumbing for now. After calling their office to question this invoice, I was told that I received the fees message (which lists fees, but not charging terms) and we “don’t provide free quotes”. Many of your competitors do, and it’s often expected and built into trades fee schedules, but ok…. There is also nothing on your website or in your terms and conditions that defines inclusions/exclusions in your “Service fee” other than travel time. It’s reasonable to expect a “Service fee” of $105+ might include showing up and providing a few mins of simple consultation and the opportunity to quote for a larger job. I don’t expect free quotes, or free anything. I do expect reasonable fees. I’d happily pay for one hour ($140+) or the “Service fee” ($105+) as I was expecting, but not both for what I received. They could argue $245 is reasonable for a look, simple consult, and quote, my experiences firmly hold the opinion that it is not reasonable. Howrah plumbing I strongly recommend you make it clear that your minimum charging policy for a simple consult and quote is your service fee PLUS one hour labour. Had I known I’d be paying $245 minimum I would have gone with another company. Fees Msg below for reference. “This is a confirmation message that you have booked a plumber to attend your property and that you have agreed to Howrah Plumbings fees and charges. Service fee : $115.50 Labour rate: $143 p/h Assistant labour rate: $93.50 p/h Gas fitter $154 p/h The service fee allows for 30 minutes of travel. Any additional travel will be charged at our labour rate. Materials, equipment and assistant labour will be charged as required.”
Always polite from the office when you book a plumber and they are punctual. The work they do is very good. They are a very good company to deal with. John Kinnane.
I really hate leaving bad reviews but I really wasn't happy. I had an issue with hot water pressure. Had a young man and an apprentice come out. They seemed clueless to what the issue was, changed a few washers and off they went. I had to call them back the next week as issue wasn't fixed. Second time he told me issue was fixed. I paid for 2 call out fees (approx $700) and my plumbing issue was never fixed. I ended up using a different company that knew what the issue was straight away and fixed it within the hour, for a quarter of the price. Sorry guys, wouldn't use again. 👎
I had an issue with my wastewater system which, fair to say, was stressing me out a bit(!). The team at Howrah Plumbing were straight onto it, coming out to my property, identifying the issue and following up with hydro jetting all within 3 days. They were very friendly, helpful, experienced and kitted up for the job. And the bill was very reasonable at the end of it. Thanks again Howrah Plumbing - will certainly call on your services again when needed.
